Want to share your love of books with a Cambridge first-grader?

Join Reading Buddies, a weekly read-aloud literacy program made possible by Sanofi Genzyme volunteers as well as community volunteers. The program serves first-graders and second-graders at Fletcher Maynard Academy, a local public elementary school near Central Square and Inman Square. Read aloud to one or two first-grade partners from 12:15 until 12:45 PM in the classroom, alongside other adult "buddies," this spring. You may be given the option of staying with the same child (who'll then be a second-grader) in the fall of 2020.

Managed by Cambridge School Volunteers, the Reading Buddies program includes one training before each volunteer begins, the use of a read-aloud book collection for weekly reading sessions, and an end-of-semester celebration with gift books for each student.
