This July, Good Shepherd Hospice and the Bob Sweeney Foundation present their annual Camp HOPE. This 2 day Camp hosts 80 school aged children who have experienced the loss of a close loved one. The Camp boasts a professional staff of grief counselors who help the children to process their loss and develop coping skills.

The Camp would not be possible without the volunteers who give of their time and talent to make these young people feel safe special and supported. Each volunteer is assigned as a Personal Pal to a child, who they work one-on-one with for the entire two days. This relationship ensures that each child is given all of the special attention they deserve.

In addition to three, hour long, grief groups, the children participate in typical Camp activities, including sports, recreation, and arts and crafts. The opening and closing ceremonies celebrate bravery and hope, encouraging these beautiful children to support one another and remember their loved ones as they walk through life.

Volunteers are needed to help make this year's Camp a success. For more information or to be added to our distribution lists, please contact the Volunteer Department at 631-828-7611. We look forward to hearing from you!
