One of our most dedicated volunteers, Jose, leads his student group during our Beginning ESL class


Tutors needed to assist low-wage janitors and other service workers to prepare for citizenship exam & other requirements. Tutors will help answer students' questions, lead activities, and work with small groups of students.

Our Organization: Building Skills Partnership (BSP) is a statewide non-profit collaboration between the California janitors' union (SEIU-USWW), community leaders, and responsible businesses to build a strong future for building service workers, their families, and communities by advancing skills, opportunities, and self sufficiency.

Volunteer Skill Requirements: Patience, enthusiasm, respect for other cultures, and flexibility. Commitment and dependability. Spanish speaking skills required.

Class Schedule: Saturdays from 10am-12pm starting January 21, 2017

Location: SEIU-USWW Office - 1010 Ruff Drive, San Jose, CA 95110

Benefits: As a volunteer at BSP you will receive training and acquire skills in teaching Citizenship, gain knowledge about the issues facing newcomer families, and learn about the social services and other resources available to immigrants and low-wage workers in the Bay Area counties. BSP is a registered 501(c)(3) and volunteer hours can count towards fulfilling a community service requirement.
