Event Summary:ABCD is looking for individuals/groups to volunteer for the 1 st Annual ABCD Homeless Point-In-Time Census Count on Wednesday, January 25 thin the Malden, Medford and Everett communities. The census count is a nationwide effort, performed at the local level by city officials and volunteers, that is held on single night every January, which will help to determine future levels of federal funding that the Commonwealth will receive to combat homelessness. Please see below for various ways individuals can be involved on this important day!

Luncheon: 5 Volunteers Needed

- Where: Hosted by First Baptist Church of Everett (50 Church Street, Everett, MA 02149)

- When: 11:00am - 1:00pm

- Details: Volunteers are needed to assist in the set-up of a luncheon at the First Baptist Church, serving food to homeless individuals, conduct short surveys with guests and aid in the clean-up effort.

Dinner: 5+ Volunteers Needed

- Where: Hosted by the Bread of Life (VFW Hall, 184 Pleasant Street, Malden, MA 02148)

- When: 5:30pm - 6:30pm

- Details: Volunteers are needed to assist in the set-up of a dinner at the VFW Hall serving food to homeless individuals, conduct short surveys with guests and aid in the clean-up effort.

Outreach Census Count: 30 Volunteers Needed (10 per group - Malden, Medford, Everett)

- When: 6:00pm - 10:00pm

- Where: 6 Pleasant Street Suite 602, Malden, MA 02148

- Details: Volunteers are needed to conduct outreach surveys to homeless individuals/families that they encounter while visiting various "hot spots" in their assigned community where homeless tend to congregate. Volunteer groups will be paired with individuals from each of the Mayor’s Office’s as well as Police Officers from each community as they walk from area to area.

- Upon arrival, all volunteers will receive a Volunteer Orientation from ABCD Housing staff and specific assignment information. Walk-thru to begin once Orientation has concluded.

Preferred Skills & Other Items:

  • Preferred Language Skills: English, Spanish, Haitian Creole
  • Volunteers must provide their own means of transportation for all above events.
  • Volunteers should: dress warmly (reflective clothing recommended), wear comfortable walking shoes, bring flashlights, clipboards and pens
