Mission Hospice needs you!

Through the nationally-recognized Music & Memory program (https://musicandmemory.org/), our trained volunteers use individually-curated playlists on iPod Shuffles to help patients with dementia.

We are looking for a detailed-oriented iTunes guru to manage the playlists behind that program. Ideally, you are someone who's good at developing systems and enjoys teaching other volunteers to use iPods, work with and edit playlists, and track music interests and requests. Our current Music & Memory program volunteer manager will train you, and you'll work together (at least initially).

You'll be responsible for helping to manage the music library on our Windows 10 laptop: buying music within a budget, creating playlists, loading iPods, and helping our direct care volunteers use the technology with their patients.

You'll need to be in the San Mateo area (Foster City, San Mateo, Burlingame) so that it's easy for volunteers to meet with you to pick up the iPods.

We'll train you (in the Music & Memory program and in our current system), and then you'll volunteer in our office or at your home on a flexible schedule (based on patients' needs and meetings with other volunteers).

Mission Statement

Mission Hospice & Home Care is a nonprofit organization whose professional staff and well-trained volunteers are dedicated to providing the finest quality, compassionate care to those who are terminally ill or facing a life-limiting illness, and to supporting their families through illness and bereavement.

Description

It’s about life! Mission Hospice & Home Care helps patients live life to the fullest, offering medical, spiritual, emotional, and practical support to patients and familes throughout the end-of-life process.

We are San Mateo County's first hospice program, founded by volunteers in 1979. Since then, our staff and volunteers have cared for more than 10,000 patients and families throughout the San Mateo County area.

We are known for our personal, individualized palliative care - whether in patients’ homes, assisted living, board and care, or skilled nursing facilities. We see every day that our compassionate care gives patients and their loved ones the opportunity to cherish their time together.

This work would not be possible without volunteers, who are the heart and soul of our care. Our direct care volunteers offer important emotional and social support to our patients and their families, providing companionship, logistical assistance, and more. Our indirect care volunteers offer their time and talents in the office, assisting with mailings, special events and administrative tasks. The Mission Hospice Auxiliary is dedicated to raising funds and promoting awareness of the services provided by Mission Hospice & Home Care.
