Are you a stickler for accurate recordkeeping? Do the words transaction , journal , reconciliation , and ledger sound very familiar to you? Great! We need someone who knows how to use these accounting tools.
JAARS makes Bible translation and language development possible in the most remote and difficult areas in the world through transportation, technology, media, and training.
Your accounting and reporting skills and the ability to supervise staff are an important part of the team supporting Bible translation. Interested? We would like to talk with you!
Description
We are looking for someone to be responsible for accurately recording and summarizing financial transactions according to generally accepted accounting principles.
Responsibilities
- Verify and enter transaction details into general and subsidiary journals
- Perform appropriate reconciliation of bank and ledger accounts
- Summarize subsidiary journals and record information in general ledgers
- Balance general ledger, correcting any erors in the ledger or trial balance
- Compile financial reports following establishes procedures, including withholding and other tax reports
- Use accounting software to accomplish these tasks
- May supervise staff to accomplish assigned activities
Requirements and Experience Desired
- One year of education in bookkeeping and one year of bookkeeping experience
- Or two year accounting degree (AA degree)
- Ability to use a computer and learn the related software programs needed to complete the work

JAARS is a multidisciplinary team of problem-solvers committed to the belief--and the vision--that people’s lives and communities are transformed as they experience God’s Word in their own language.
We are a community of full-time missionaries, dedicated volunteers, and a few employees who work together to accomplish the Great Commission goal of providing Scripture to every people group on earth in a language and form they clearly understand. We do that by supporting Bible translation and language development partners globally, and by working with prayer and financial partners in the United States to help make a range of unique on-the-field solutions possible.
