Longest Day

THE LONGEST DAY The Alzheimer's Association, New York City Chapter is looking for volunteers to help us spread the word about our National Signature DIY Event fundraising platform, The Longest Day (r).

The Longest Day is the day with the most light - the summer solstice, thousands of participants from across the world come together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's through an activity of their choice. Together, they use their creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.

On the summer solstice, team up with the Alzheimer’s Association and select any activity you love - or an activity loved by those affected - to help end Alzheimer’s. Together, we will raise funds and awareness toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.

Choose an activity you like to do and turn it into a fundraiser to fight Alzheimer’s! Follow the steps below:

  • Select an activity you love at alz.org/thelongestday.
  • Any activity can be a fundraiser for The Longest Day:
  • Any Activity can be a FUNDRAISER $.
FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY IDEAS

Ask on Facebook,

Twitter, Instagram
and LinkedIn:
Ask for donations from friends, family and colleagues on social media. Use #TheLongestDay and #ENDALZ. Create a Facebook Fundraiser from your Participant Center.

Bake Sale:
Make an amazing cupcake? Host a bake sale at work or in your community.
Bingo Night:
A bingo night spells fun and fundraising for everyone you invite.
Book Sale:
Ask neighbors to donate from their book collections and host a book sale in your office
or neighborhood.
Car Wash:
Organize a car wash in your community and invite your neighbors to get involved.
Casual for a Cause:
Ask your employer for permission to collect donations for dress-down days. Whether it’s one week or a few months, jeans are a great incentive and people love to donate to dress casually at work.
Chili Cook-Off:
Do you know people who say they make the best chili? Host a cook-off and have attendees make a donation to taste and judge the entries.
Create a Family Cookbook:
Ask family members to share their favorite recipes from generations past. Compile them into a family cookbook to sell for the cause.
Karaoke Night:
Organize a karaoke night. People can donate to perform a specific song or to encourage others to get up on stage!
Lemonade or Smoothie Stand:
A lemonade or smoothie stand is a great way to beat the heat and raise funds at the
same time.
Letter-Writing Campaign:
Ask for donations the old-fashioned way. Send letters with a return-addressed, stamped envelope.
Matching Gifts:
Many employers will match an employee’s donation or fundraising toward a charitable cause. Ask your company if they participate.
Pinterest Crafting Party:
Host a party where attendees make their favorite craft or recipe from Pinterest. Ask for
a donation from each attendee.
Restaurant Night:
Many restaurants will select a specific night to donate a percent of proceeds to a good cause.
Silent Auction:
Ask for donations from local businesses, friends and neighbors and host a silent auction.
Sports Tournament:
From tennis to softball, a sports tournament can be a great way to raise funds and awareness. Ask for donations for admission and concessions.
Yard Sale:
Clean out your garage or attic and host a yard sale with items you no longer need.
Ask neighbors to donate items and create a giant sale on your street.

The Alzheimer's Association was founded in 1980 by a group of family caregivers and individuals who recognized the need for an organization that would unite caregivers, provide support to those facing Alzheimer's, and advance research into the disease.

Today the Alzheimer's Association reaches millions of people affected by Alzheimer's and other dementias. We are the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support, and research.
