Lantern Community Services is a homeless services non-profit that helps people who are formerly homeless or have recently aged out of foster care rebuild their lives. We do this through our supportive housing program, which is based on the latest evidence of what provides the most benefit to our clients. Our programs deal with health, employment, education, and life skills and are delivered inside our residences. We have locations in the Bronx, Brooklyn, and Upper Manhattan.
Lantern is currently looking for volunteers who can help out our residents at one of our Brooklyn buildings who don't have strong technology skills. Many of our residents are older folks who need help with using computers, smartphones, and social media, and getting those skills can make a huge difference in their ability to get a job. Someone who knows how to solve technological problems and can be patient with people who don't know much about them would be greatly appreciated. Also, because the majority of people who need help with computers are Spanish speakers, we can only accept bilingual volunteers for this position.
