National Alliance on Mental Illness is America's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and familes affected by mental illness. NAMI Geauga County offers an array of free services available to the public and strives to build awarness of our organization's mission.

Relationships with the public are vital for promoting our mission and we need dedicated volunteers to help us reach out to the local community!

As a community outreach volunteer, responsiblities could include:

-Distributing brochures to local businesses

-Joining the membership drive team

-Researching community events and opportunities for NAMI to get involved

-Assisting with volunteer recruitment

-Collaborating with the Special Events Crew

To offer mutual support and empowerment to persons and their families affected by serious mental illness through education, advocacy, and emotional support.

Description

National Alliance on Mental Illness is America's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and familes affected by mental illness such as major depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and borderline personality disorder.

Founded in 1979, NAMI has become the nation's voice on mental illness, a national organization including NAMI organizations in every state and in over 1200 local communities across the country who join together to meet the NAMI mission.

NAMI provides free educational programs and support groups for individuals living with mental illness and families/friends. Additionally, NAMI organizes educational events in schools and the local community.
