Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Suncrest Hospice is looking for volunteers to join the Suncrest Team as we provide excellent care and support to our hospice patients and their families in their homes! We serve families in Alameda, San Francisco, San Mateo, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara Counties.
The philosophy of hospice care is to provide comfort and the highest quality of life that one can achieve at end of life. Through an interdisciplinary team: nurse, nurse assistant, social worker, chaplain and volunteers, we help the patient and family walk through their journey.
As a Pet Volunteer you will have the opportunity to bring our patients a special kind of comfort and love that differs from what us humans can provide, spark wonderful memories of a happier time, and encourage activity. Suncrest also is a participant in the national We Honor Veterans Program and global Dementia Friends movement.
Volunteers are trained in their role and we are required to conduct background checks and TB testing, at no charge to all volunteers. Vaccine records and proof of training certifications for both volunteer and pet are required.
