ORGANIZATION: Children's Museum of Sonoma County

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 8 people are interested

In January, the Children’s Museum of Sonoma County will create a winter wonderland right in Santa Rosa! 40 tons of fresh snow will be delivered to the Museum and maintained over the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend, creating a space for children to explore, build, create, and play outside.

We are currently looking for volunteers to help us EACH day of this large event: Saturday, January 13th, Sunday, January 14th, and Monday, January 15th. Primary tasks will include supervising children at play, answering basic questions posed by guests, enforcing museum rules, directing parking lot traffic, helping with snow-related activities, and ensuring that guests are enjoying their visit.

Two volunteer shifts are available:
Morning: 8:30am - 12:30pm
Afternoon: 12:00pm - 4:30pm

Mission Statement

The mission of the Children's Museum of Sonoma County (CMOSC) is to inspire children's creativity and stimulate their curiosity to discover the world through playful exploration of the arts and sciences.

Description

The Children’s Museum of Sonoma County (CMOSC) was established as a Federal 501(c)(3) corporation in December 2005. CMOSC’s mission is to "inspire children’s creativity and stimulate their curiosity to discover the world through playful exploration of the arts and sciences."

The Museum campus is located in Santa Rosa, California on 4.2 acres and includes over 7,000 square feet of interior space, coupled with 36,000 square feet of outdoor exhibits. All exhibits are devoted to science, art or nature, with a specific emphasis in the outdoor exhibit garden on environmental sustainability, water conservation and renewable energies.

The permanent Museum has become a destination for Sonoma County families and beyond. On pace to serve over 70,000 visitors this year, CMOSC inspires children’s creativity and stimulates their development by encouraging exploration in an open and accessible interactive museum. Rooted in current early childhood research, CMOSC is modeled on proven children’s museums such as the Bay Area Discovery Museum and the Discovery Museum of San Jose.
