Share Your Career Experience with Students at Independence High School
Make an exciting difference in the future of Santa Clara County students by teaching them economic success skills! You get to teach a class of young people all about work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy. No teaching experience? No problem! We provide you with the training, programs, and materials you'll need to be successful in the classroom.
Volunteers will:
- Receive ready-to-use materials provided by JA
- Teach 7 forty-five minute lessons to a class of approximately 30 high school students
- Receive a 1 hour training (at the JA office or a location of your choosing)
- Volunteers can team up
JA Career Success - students will:
- Session 1: Get Hired: Critical thinking and Creativity - apply to problem solving
- Session 2: Get Hired: Communication and Conflict Management Skills
- Session 3: Get Hired: Collaboration and Creativity - high performing teams
- Session 4: Get Hired: Strong Soft Skills - practice interviewing
- Session 5: Know Your Work Priorities - use priority setting tools
- Session 6: Know Who’s Hiring - recognize STEM and other high-growth industries
- Session 7: Know Your Personal Brand - identify personal-brand and job hunting tools

Junior Achievement of Northern California (JA) achieves this mission through teaching students about their expanding roles as individuals, consumers, employees, employers, and productive members of our society. Working in partnership with over 4,000 community and corporate volunteers, we provide empowering programs to K-12 students across 26 counties in Northern and Central California.
