When: Saturday, December 9th (6:00 am - 12:00 pm)
Where: Citizens Business Bank Arena
Description: Do you want to help kids afford to go to college? Do you want to give back to the Inland Empire? Join our team of Rudolph's helpers and volunteer with Promise Scholars at the Ontario 5K Reindeer Run and you will be doing all of that!
We are looking for community members to come out for a morning of winter excitement and festivities. Rudolph's little helpers will be needed from 6 am to 12pm.
We need volunteers for:
- Pancake Breakfast Service
- Parking Lot Guidance
- Water Stations
- General Race Maintenance
- T-shirt distribution
- Much more!
The proceeds from the race benefit Promise Scholars. Promise Scholars is a program that aims to provide early, universal college and career access to students of the Ontario-Montclair school district. The money raised from the race and pancake breakfast helps to fund field trips, business leader presentations, financial aid workshops, and scholarships to our future leaders.
For only a few hours of your Saturday morning, you can make a difference and help raise money to help students get to college. This is your chance to give kids opportunities they may never have been offered before. Sign up and you will receive more details on how you can help.
Thank you for your interest in serving with Promise Scholars!

Mission Statement
Promise Scholars believes that unlocking the potential of our community relies on unlocking the potential of all our children. So we bring everyone together--students, parents, educators, businesses, and local leaders--to introduce kids to the opportunities available after high school and make sure they get on the education pathway to achieve their goals. When we help them become successful and contributing adults, our entire region benefits from a brighter, more productive future. The vision of the Promise Scholars Initiative is to prepare all Ontario-Montclair School District (OMSD) students who go on to Chaffey, Montclair, and Ontario High Schools to reach their college and career dreams.
Description
Our early and all approach-we connect with all our kids starting in Kindergarten and continue that relationship even after high school-requires a lot of resources and partners. Every kid has the potential to succeed, and helping kids reach their goals is key in strengthening our community and a wide circle of caring and engaged adults helps make this possible.
We work to increase student knowledge about college and career technical training opportunities and help them develop and act on their plans for a post-secondary education.
This is achieved through in-class curriculum on college and careers starting in Kindergarten. Promise Scholars also takes all 5 th and 8 th graders on field trips to community colleges and four year universities so they can begin to envision themselves as college students. All 6 th graders participate in business leader presentations in class, where community members come speak about their path to a degree or certificate and their career. In 9 th grade we help student explore their personality strengths and career options. And 12 th graders get help with their college application and financial aid applications.
We serve low income neighborhoods in Ontario and Montclair where the majority of students will be the first in their family to complete college.
