FULL TIME, PAID, COMPETITIVE VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY:
The Rochester Youth Year Fellowship is sponsored by AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America)and administered by theRochester Regional Network (RRN), a consortium of 8 local colleges. RYY places passionate and qualified graduates at community-based organizations to create, innovate, or expand asset-based, antipoverty initiatives through indirect service in order to address the challenges many Rochester families face.The fellowship is 1 year long, open to all majors, and serves as an exceptional bridge from the academic world to the professional one, giving graduates an opportunity to gain hands-on skills and real-world experience before beginning graduate school or their next job.
Benefits include:
- One year of hands-on, professional experience working on one or multiple projects in Rochester area in a variety of disciplines
- A modest bi-weekly living stipend
- $5,815 education award that can be used towards higher education or federal loan payments

Mission Statement
Rochester Youth Year is an AmeriCorps VISTA-sponsored social justice fellowship that strives to eradicate poverty for Rochester youth and families, strengthen communities, and promote community-centered leadership. VISTAs perform indirect, capacity-building service for their host organizations to create, expand, and sustain asset-based, anti-poverty initiatives.
Description
Rochester Youth Year places qualified candidates with recent Bachelor’s degrees at community-based organizations full-time, to create, innovate, or expand asset-based, antipoverty initiatives through indirect service, in order to address the many challenges that Rochester families face. Indirect service tasks may include but are not limited to grant writing, resource development, volunteer recruitment, program assessment and evaluation, systems building and more. The fellowship is 1 year long, open to all majors, and guarantees hands-on experience for each VISTA.
