Volunteering with Oye LENA

We expect volunteers to be actively involved in the project for at least eight full weeks. That way, Oye LENA is able to create an optimal climate in which the volunteers can build a relationship of trust with the children. It goes without saying that you can take a holiday as a volunteer: you can stay in Curahuasi longer than four weeks so that you can plan excursions. Holidays are planned by mutual agreement.

You can work as a volunteer at one of the projects mentioned before.

Your tasks and schedule depend on the project you will be working at. For example, you can choose to help out with the special needs children every morning and make sure that the kids have a wonderful time, that you challenge them with new educational materials and that you stimulate their development. But it is also possible for you to help out in the Oye NENE classroom. There, you will lend a helping hand to the class teacher and help prepare arts and crafts activities, physical exercises and the like.

You can indicate which project you prefer on the application form. We try to take your preferences into account as much as possible, so that you can do what you do best and like the most when you are here.
