ORGANIZATION: Berkeley Public Library - Berkeley Public Library - Central

Importance of Position: To assist in an 8 week long coding club for middle schoolers in February/March 2017.

Qualifications:

  • Patience
  • Good oral communication skills
  • Friendly, relaxed, and out-going demeanor
  • At ease with children aged 10-14
  • Willing and able to follow directions
  • Skill in basic computer use

Work environment:

  • Berkeley Public Library Electronic Classroom

Responsible To:

  • Children’s Librarian

Responsibilities:

  • May assist staff in teaching computer skills
  • Provides individual assistance to children

Training Provided:

  • Training provided as needed

Time Commitment: Wednesdays 3:30 - 5:00 pm in February/March 2017

Length of Time: Minimum 2 month commitment

Grounds for Termination:

Failure to follow directions and adhere to library policies and procedures; unacceptable customer service; failure to fulfill time commitment

The Berkely Public Library serves over 100,000 cardholders and provides a variety of traditional and nontraditional services and resources, including: children's programs, dynamic teen programs, innovative informational and referral services, literacy programs, internet access, a database of community organizations (the Berkeley Information Network), an extensive collection of art and music, and the Berkeley History Room.
