ORGANIZATION: Communities In Schools of Tacoma

Are you an education student looking to practice your classroom-management skills? Maybe you just enjoy working with students and helping them learn. Either way, we need you!

Communities in Schools of Tacoma is providing after-school reading tutoring at Arlington Elementary for students who need extra support and help. This year, the need is so great we have expanded into two rooms! Our Site Coordinator can't be in two places at once--we need assistance for classroom management, including giving out snacks, making sure students get a bathroom break, and help with managing issues as they arise.

This program is so important for our students who could use extra reading support. You can make a difference in a child's education by volunteering with us today!

This program takes place M, T, W, Th from 3:30 - 5:00 PM and we would appreciate any level of time commitment you could contribute.

Communities In Schools is part of the 5th largest youth development organization in the country. We are the only ones proven to increase graduation rates AND decrease dropout rates.

We serve as the bridge between the student and the community, bringing in resources that help break down the barriers that students have to be successful in school.
