Do you know what harmful contaminants are in your water? How it gets there? What effect it has on your families and environment? Save the Water(tm) (STW(tm)) is the one looking for answers.

STW(tm) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to conduct water research to identify and remove harmful contaminants in water; and to raise public awareness about water contamination and its health impacts. STW also offers educational programs to excite young minds about water science.

Our volunteers are diverse professionals from all over the world bringing their knowledge and experience to STW because we care deeply about our communities and water resources. We learn and collaborate in an open and empowering work environment to find long term solutions to water contamination problem. Our vision is "Contamination free, healthy water for all"

Save the Water(tm) is currently seeking for a Technology Associate: Information Security who thrives in an environment that recognizes excellence in creativity, and execution. The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated individual that is passionate about information security systems and its policies and procedures.

Associates are expected to put in a minimum of 5 hours per week and be responsive to emails within three (3) calendar days.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Report to Project Leader for the given project team

  • Attend monthly Technology meeting.

  • Complete the PWR at least on weekly minimum basis

  • Develop, implement, and enforce Information Security Policies and Procedures

  • Ensure that personnel follows established Information Security Policies and Procedures

  • Oversee security access monitoring to application and data. Work with all areas of management to help them understand the security reports, follow up and escalate as needed

  • Assist with questions related to security administration / security access permissions to applications and data

  • Understands standard operating procedures and processes and is able to apply them as solutions to common problems

  • Ensure privileged ID’s associated with high risk applications are inventoried and monitored regularly

  • Identifying and monitor dangerous combinations of access across applications with assistance

  • Troubleshoot issues as well as streamlining processes related to information security

  • Identifies and escalates changes that will affect information security policy, standards and procedures

Experience/Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and details simultaneously.

  • Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public.

  • Must demonstrate effective oral communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff inside and outside of the department.

  • Knowledge of information security, privacy, and risk management principles

  • Strong analytical and time-management skills

  • Must have strong communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to present technical concepts to all levels of management and associates

  • Project management experience is a plus

  • Familiarity with the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

  • Understand risk management concepts around information security design and implementation

  • Knowledge of security access and permissions are applied is a plus, particularly Windows, UNIX, database

  • Knowledge of user authentication and access controls

  • The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential

  • Able to work independently and be a self starter; manage multiple tasks according to priorities; results oriented and ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment with high expectations
