Summary The After School Program at Little Tokyo Service Center provides tutoring programs Monday-Thursday for youth residents (6-18 years of age) of our affordable housing apartments. These programs utilize volunteer tutors to help our children with homework, play games, and provide mentors/role models. Because of volunteers' efforts, we were able to provide 53 children with after school services, and include 75 youth in our mentorship program. Additionally, 80% of the youth enrolled in our after school programs saw their grades improve!
Description With the holiday season coming up, many of our volunteer tutors will be away or busy. As a result, we will need volunteers to tutor/play games for the following dates and locations:
- 3:30pm to 5:30pm, Casa Heiwa Apartments (Little Tokyo Location): Nov 21, Nov 28, Nov 30, Dec 5, and Dec 7
- 2:30pm to 5:30pm, Angelina Apartments (Echo Park Location): Nov 22, Nov 29, Dec 1, Dec 6, and Dec 8

For over 40 years, Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC) has provided a safety net of social welfare and community development services to empower people and communities in need. LTSC provides culturally and linguistically appropriate services to the Japanese American community in the Greater Los Angeles area, builds multi-family affordable housing projects to uplift low-income neighborhoods of color throughout Los Angeles, and promotes equitable development and cultural preservation in the Little Tokyo neighborhood.
