The Little Tokyo Small Biz Hype Squad is an ongoing, 3-4 month-long Little Tokyo Service Center volunteer program that supports local legacy businesses in their digital marketing efforts. Weekly meetings with the business owners online and/or in-person provide invaluable behind-the-scenes knowledge of how a small business operates and engages with their local community. We're currently looking for 3-4 volunteers for our June 2023 - September 2023 period to support Little Tokyo legacy business Suehiro! All volunteers will receive 8 hours of digital marketing strategy training, so no previous digital marketing experience or skills are required. Volunteering can be done all mostly online, with some optional in-person opportunities. This is a great chance to learn and apply digital marketing strategies in a real-life situation and learn from direct consumer feedback under the guidance of an experienced small business consultant. Tasks may include: Completing an online audit Creating a brand style guide to guide a cohesive digital marketing visual Researching the history of the small business Organizing digital assets including photos, video and documents about the small business Writing captions for social media Create marketing content using Canva Take behind-the-scenes photos and videos to share on social media Engaging with followers on social media Tracking shares, comments and feedback to be able to compare content effectiveness Students may request letters and certificates of completion for school credi t if appropriate for their program. Workers may also request tracked and signed off hours and certificate of completion to complete community volunteer programming hours.
