About: I'RAISE is a small BIPOC led 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in NYC. We provide 100% free educational resources, programs, and services to vulnerable families and children in under-resourced and under-served communities in NYC since 2013 and virtually since 2022. We provide free programs such as tutoring, mentoring, coaching, college and career preparation, parent support, virtual performing arts classes, and much more.

Description of Role: Public Relations intern will help our Marketing department in creating, planning, and implementing thoughtful public relations (PR) initiatives to promote our efforts, I'RAISE's efforts and the impacts we have made in families and childrens' lives through our free holistic programs, resources and services, whether virtually or in-person.

Help us with strategizing how we could reach our target audiences who can benefit from our services. Utilize PR strategy for our company so that more people know who I'RAISE is, what we do, how we do it, and why we do what we do. Daily life of a Public Relations Intern:

• Assisting with developing media relations strategies and Public Relations (PR) campaigns
• Seeking opportunities for hyperlocal press coverage of the organization’s programs and initiatives
• Building and maintaining media contact lists
• Addressing inquiries from the media
• Preparing press releases, media announcements, PSAs, speeches and other PR materials
• Tracking media coverage and following nonprofit PR and PR industry trends
• Editing and updating our media kit and other promotional materials and publications
• Working closely with the the Marketing Supervisor, Executive Department and collaborating with internal teams (e.g. Events Committee, Human Resources, etc.) regarding public relations efforts

Skills / Qualifications:

• Currently in grad or undergrad college or university pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or a related field

Team: Small team of graphic designer volunteer, PR Consultant volunteer, marketing intern, public relations intern, digital / social media marketing intern.
