A Phone Companion Volunteer reaches out with warmth and kindness to isolated elders. They help ensure elders know that someone cares and is thinking of them, while also offering the reassurance that comes with belonging to the Little Brothers -Friends of the Elderly (LBFE) community. Once rapport and trust is built, Phone Companions help LBFE best attend to the elder’s social needs overtime by observing and reporting on levels of loneliness, physical, mental and environmental well-being, as well as elder hopes and dreams.
The Phone Companion Program forms part of LBFE’s Companionship Care Services which also include our Visiting Volunteer and In-Person Check-in Volunteer Programs, which together ensure a spectrum of companionship that offers deeper engagement and more social connection opportunities for our elders.
