In today's world, our older adult friends may find the phone ringing less frequently than they'd prefer. Yet, phone friendships offer the delightful anticipation of an awaited call, stimulating conversations, and the profound joy of deepening connections. You have the power to become the comforting, compassionate voice on the other end of the line, ensuring that every older adult feels valued and cared for. Virtual Opportunity
Help bring cheer and smiles to older Minnesotans with your friendly voice. Be a Wednesday Morning Coffee Talker! Coffee Talk is a drop-in chat line that connects socially isolated older adults with caring volunteers for friendly conversation. With words of encouragement and a listening ear, you will provide callers with friendly conversation, information about community resources, and opportunities to connect them with other Friends & Co services. Callers can remain anonymous, and there is no need to register or make an appointment. Volunteers answer calls Monday through Friday from 8 am to noon. Will you be there to answer when someone calls to chat? Volunteers must be 18+, complete a volunteer application, and pass a background check. We are looking for help on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. - Noon. This is a virtual volunteer opportunity with training and staff support provided. *Currently, we ask that all volunteers live in the Midwest in the CST time zone. *University students needing volunteer hours for class are welcome to apply too.
