Spread a Little Love with the Dog Therapy Program.
A-B Tech Community College recognizes the positive influence that therapy dogs can have on student and staff and are currently seeking registered Therapy Dog Teams (Dog & Owner). Teams are needed to have regular routes on campus, visiting public areas and staff offices. The team also assists with special requests such as visiting classrooms before exams or special events on campus.
Therapy Dog Volunteers undergo the same onboarding process as regular volunteers (Volunteer Application, Orientation, and Background Check). Additionally, they must provide a current Therapy Dog Certificate from an accredited agency and attend a trial therapy dog visit with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure the dog and handler are appropriate for the position.
The Volunteer Program accepts Therapy Dog certification from the following agencies. Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Therapy Dogs International, Pet Partners (previously Delta Society).
