Volunteer Coordinator Needed!

Milwaukee Pets Alive isn’t just another rescue. We are here to shape rescue. Join us as our Volunteer Coordinator - a part of our Leadership Team! There’s never been a better time to volunteer with us if you are looking to be a part of something bigger than yourself - help us as we work towards building a sanctuary so we can serve even MORE special animals and make SE WI No Kill! This is a monumental undertaking and we are looking for TEAMMATES to make this vision a reality!

Our Volunteer Coordinator is a leadership role and the individual will be an ambassador of the MPA organization, creating a community - both internal and external - that emphasizes the important work we do for the special animals we serve and exemplifies how each volunteer’s active involvement helps us achieve more for more precious lives. Our leadership volunteers each manage one piece of the organization. Our leadership volunteers together (the Leadership Team) orchestrate an amazing whole doing great works in our community...and our world! The Volunteer Coordinator must enjoy working with and speaking to people as well as cultivating and developing the talents of others! We are going to need so many extraordinary volunteers to build a sanctuary - the Volunteer Coordinator is one who will also play a part in bringing in so many more!

As an all-volunteer run organization, volunteers are vital to the work we do. As aforementioned, each and every one is a teammate! The Volunteer Coordinator plays an important role in ushering great people into our organization who share the same vision, philosophy, and values whom together with we can accomplish great things for the animals who have no one else without us!

The Volunteer Coordinator will:

• Curate and build a strong team of individuals to accomplish the important work we are doing in SE WI!
• Process volunteer applications and engage qualified candidates in a timely manner to get them actively working towards furthering the organizational mission.
• Conduct phone interviews after processing volunteer applications to determine if volunteer candidate can fulfill the needs of our organization and the role they are interested in, as well as share information about our organization to ensure we are a match for the potential volunteer.
• Conduct Volunteer Orientations.
• Create sign-up genius’ for each MPA volunteer need and distribute to master list of volunteers.
• Monitor each sign-up genius to ensure all pleas for volunteer help needed are filled with internal volunteers at least 1 week prior to the need.
• Communicate with the entire volunteer base regularly to answer questions and make sure all volunteers are staying actively engaged, participating regularly, and appreciated for their hard work!
• Will manage Volunteer Match account and postings and update listings as needed.
• Participate in once-a-month Leadership Team meetings.

Volunteer tasks are done around the volunteer’s own schedule - when it’s convenient for you - morning, day, or night - though some tasks will involve the occasional coordination of your schedule with the schedule of others (such as for meetings, phone calls, etc.).

We are looking for one person to fill this role. The right individual will strongly believe in our mission, vision, and core values and have a sincere interest in elevating our organization, extending our reach, and growing with us (so commitment and dedication are important).

We are an entirely volunteer-run rescue. Everything you see was created and accomplished by a volunteer! We have no employees, so all volunteers should be self-motivated, be a self-starter with initiative, drive, ambition, and are able to work independently. One of the general qualities we look for in any teammate in this rescue are those who are "Go-Givers" - people who want to make a difference in the world and for others and know the greatest impact we make is often not the work we are paid to do in our 9-5, but that what we choose to do because in our hearts, we want to make others' time on this planet easier and better! How our organization is structured requires that all volunteers be able to accept direction to produce cohesive messaging, vision, results, and practices consistent with that of the overall organization as a whole and then take that direction to lead in the execution of their piece of the organization. Individual must be able to follow through on their commitments. The Volunteer Coordinator should also be outgoing, personable, enthusiastic, and love people as coordinating volunteers is all about engaging with people! MPA is looking for a volunteer to fill this role who recognizes the importance of working on behalf of the special animals we serve and will work hard for them as they are counting on us to save their lives!

When every person does a little to make a difference, together, we make change. Reaching as many people as possible to let them know we’re here and the important work we are doing for an important population of animals that have no one else but us is directly proportionate to what we can achieve, and the number of animals we can save. Milwaukee Pets Alive (MPA) is an all-volunteer, No Kill, 501c3 special needs and considerations rescue that focuses on saving those local animals that have been passed over by, would not be accepted into, or would be killed by other rescues and shelters because of their needs and considerations and would have no other option for life except for through our organization. These animals may be shy, scared, under-socialized, injured, aged, differently-abled, have medical needs, or need extra resources - all deserve the chance to be loved and cherished. And all deserve time, understanding, patience, and good, comprehensive veterinary care to help them get happy, healthy, and reach their highest potential. Their lives are important.

Our mission, through our work aforementioned and through comprehensive programs and resources to educate and help community members help the animals in their own lives (thereby preventing more animals from entering the shelter system), is to end the killing of homeless companion animals in southeast WI. The population we rescue comprises those that continue to die in the greatest numbers in our community.

Our vision is for southeast WI to be one of the safest communities in the United States for companion animals.

We couldn’t help these special animals of our community that we do if not for the wonderful people who volunteer their time and talents!
