Volunteers are needed for the week leading up to the event for set up, during the event on Nov 2, and on Nov 4th to help with take-down and clean-up.

On November 2, there are 2 shifts, one from 6-9 pm and one from 9pm- 12 am.


Volunteer jobs include ticketing, greeting, coat check, food servers, trash detail, barbacks, and more!



You're invited to walk through the pages of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Color Purple.

UK Opera and Dr. Everett McCorvey will bring down the house with three pop-up renditions of the Tony-award-winning revival.

We'll dance the night away to The band Encore Of Lexington in Harpo's Juke Joint, fill our bellies with southern-style cooking from MiMi's Kitchen, find healing in group blessings with Regina Harris, and fold into Brianna Armstrong's quilts as she pays homage to the African American quilting tradition. Come dressed in your Sunday best, decked out in purple, or all gussied up for a night out with Shug Avery.

Enjoy an Open bar with signature cocktails and Blue Stallion Brewing Company's Patchwork Purple on tap. Crafted just for this event Patchwork Purple is," a blackberry sour lager, that will be unveiled at the brewery during Blue Stallion's Oktoberfest 2019! Visit the brewery in October and you might win a FREE ticket to the literary party of the year.

Walker's masterpiece on black women rising in 1930s rural Georgia is one you will not forget. Join us for or this one-night-only, literary art experience.
