Babes With Blades Theatre Company pursues a mission of placing women and their stories center stage, using stage combat as a storytelling tool. We are a 501(c)3 company, and are able to provide tax-deduction donation letters for work rendered as a donation.
We are currently looking for GRAPHIC DESIGNERS to work with us on our initiative to 'level up' our materials design and web presence.
We’ve broken our request for assistance into segments, including things we really need help with as soon as possible, things it would be very helpful to us with which to receive assistance, and 'pie in the sky’ options that would be absolutely wonderful to have, but we can get by without. We look forward to hearing from you regarding your perspective on the following list, and hope to be able to work with you soon!
Design Services Needed
- Brand development
Design visualization for new or existing guidelines and elements
- ESSENTIAL - Fonts/colors package template
- HELPFUL - Templates for signage, flyers, posters, digital assets, etc.
- PHENOMENAL - Awareness campaign for upcoming 20th anniversary)
Could include:
- Logo update/change
- Tagline update/change
Digital design of new responsive/adaptive website (ideally WordPress), incorporating new brand devo elements
- ESSENTIAL - Recommendation for new template, and some guidelines on how to convert
- HELPFUL - Installation of new templates, importing of current pages,
guidelines on archiving, help with marketing collateral like Constant Contact
Templates, etc.
- PHENOMENAL - Full rebuild + archive of old site
Could include:
- Widget recommendations
- SEO
Print materials design (ALL PHENOMENAL)
Design permanent lobby signage - BWBTC History (to be added to as we continue). Create layout for material to date, set template for additions. Other projects as inspired.
Video design (COMPLETELY PHENOMENAL)
Any assistance Brella wished to offer re: creating trailers for upcoming shows, sweetening archived footage, putting together retrospective videos using our archives, filming future performances for marketing purposes/archive, advising/assisting us in creating a BWBTC documentary, etc. (hey, if you want to help us do it, we’d be thrilled to have you!)

Through performance, script development, training and outreach, our ensemble creates theatre that explores the wide range of the human experience, and cultivates broader perspectives in the arts community and in society as a whole.
Description
Babes With Blades Theatre Company (BWBTC) serves Chicago’s residents by mounting unique theatrical productions that entertain and challenge our audiences, exposing them to underrepresented, unique voices and stories. Using stage combat as a storytelling tool, we develop and produce new works with dynamic, three-dimensional characters of marginalized identities (female-identifying, gender nonbinary, BIPOC, LGBTQAI+, and more) to the benefit of the Chicago theatrical community and audiences. Through performance, our two script development programs (Fighting Words and Joining Sword & Pen), and training and outreach activities, BWBTC seeks to empower underrepresented groups in a society where marginalized voices are still unheard.
