ORGANIZATION: Community Thread

Gain hands-on nonprofit event coordination experience! As an Event Support Volunteer, you can work with Volunteer Center staff to develop event-related materials and provide operations support for Rake a Difference Day and Holiday Hope. You will help local seniors and families receive services they need.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination for Rake a Difference Day and Holiday Hope
  • Help develop program materials for Holiday Hope
  • Support the client intake process for Holiday Hope
  • Help with administrative tasks including data entry and program evaluation
  • Other event planning responsibilities as needed

Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational ability and planning skills
  • Demonstrated community engagement skills
  • Experience working with volunteers a plus
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Applications, especially Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with good judgment
  • Team-oriented work style and effective interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to ask questions and receive feedback
  • Must be age 18 or older

Time Commitment:

  • 3-6 hours/week; 10 week minimum commitment
  • Flexible hours between 9 am-4 pm; Monday-Friday (some evenings and weekends may be required)
  • Availability for some weekday evenings during November and early December desired

  • Connecting community members through service and providing resources in the field of volunteer management through our regional Volunteer Center
  • Engaging seniors through our Stillwater and Bayport Senior Centers
  • Providing rides to medical appointments through our Transportation Program
  • Assisting seniors and individuals with disabilities in their homes through our Chore Services Program
  • Providing support during the holidays for families, individuals with disabilities and seniors in our community through our Holiday Hope Program
  • We also host a number of community-wide volunteer initiatives including Rake-A-Difference Day and Spring Into Service.
