Volunteer with RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and it's partner Christian Service Center as they support hungry students through their Love Pantry program!
What is the Love Pantry?
The Love Pantry is an initiative of the Christian Service Center, in partnership with Orange County Public Schools to provide a cabinet stocked with emergency food and basic hygiene items that is restocked weekly by volunteers. The Love Pantry places emergency food in the schools - and into the hands of students. Many of the students we serve receive their only nutritious meal(s) of the day at the school cafeteria. Often, their families are facing extremely limited financial resources, and may be homeless, living in a shelter, in a hotel, or in the family car.
As an RSVP Love Pantry volunteer your job will be picking up bundled food inventory at the Second Harvest Food Bank warehouse, and deliver those items to schools of your choice** using your personal vehicle. Warehouse location: 411 Mercy Drive, Orlando, Florida, 32808.
What is RSVP?
RSVP is a federally funded volunteer program for older adults 55 and older. RSVP you with essential volunteer opportunites to support community needs. Over 20 local nonprofit organizations depend on RSVP for volunteer support.
As a RSVP volunteer you choose what kind of volunteer assignment you want and when you want to volunteer. Opportunities range from supporting local hospitials, manning food pantries, teaching an adult to read, mentoring students, delivering nutritious meals to shut-ins and much more.
There are also short-term opportunities for those who wish to volunteer but don't want a scheduled activity. Short-term projects are very diverse, ranging from mailings for nonprofits to conference registration, and helping at fairs and festivals.
