  • American Red Cross Disaster Shelters play a vital role in providing safe refuge for individuals & families who have had to leave their homes and have no where to go to ride out the storm.
  • Be pro-active and get your training now, as helpers are actively sought year-round.
  • Shelter Helpers work in teams and assist caring for shelter residents by: helping to serve food, greet & register shelter occupants, and/or assist with addressing dormitory needs.
  • Assignment shifts, considering it is a time where people are in great need of assistance, range from an 8 to possibly 12hr shifts.
  • Shelter Helpers receive free American Red Cross Training & orientation.
  • College Students and Job Seekers - this could be good training & experience for your resumes.
