ORGANIZATION: One Yoga

  • 7 people are interested

One Yoga departs from traditional nonprofit management in which an executive director reports to the board of directors. Rather, we entrust the autonomy, leadership and management of One Yoga and its Outreach Program to a collective leadership team comprised of two lead teachers and two staff directors with all major decisions democratically decided by the leadership team. In addition to the fiduciary role, the board works to ensure One Yoga operates in accordance with its mission, and supports the leadership team in achieving the organization's goals and initiatives.

About One Yoga

Location:

Mission Statement

One Yoga improves health equity in our community through access to a broad range of teachings and practices of yoga.

Description

One Yoga opened its doors in July 2002. In April 2005, seeing the need to make yoga and mindfulness practices more broadly accessible, a group of instructors took the initiative to apply for 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. The application was approved in March 2007, allowing staff and teachers to implement new programming, including a community outreach program; sliding-fee rates for memberships and classes; and mission-driven classes, workshops, and series.

CLASSES & PROGRAMS:

One Yoga currently offers 23 hybrid classes (in-studio and live stream), as well as 10 live stream-only classes per week. We host regular workshops, series, and advanced trainings inspired by our mission to advance health equity.

Through our Sliding-Fee Program, we offer reduced rates on class passes and memberships for individuals experiencing financial hardships.

Through our Community Partners Program, we collaborate with service providers in our community to offer group yoga classes. In 2021, we offered 3 community partnerships serving local schools.
