ORGANIZATION: Impact NW

Duties: Urban Opportunities provides job readiness training and placement for underserved youth in Portland Public, Parkrose, and Centennial high schools. Volunteers and interns supervise youth groups while engaging in healthy after-school activities that reconnect students with their community and create healthy neighborhoods. You will have the opportunity to help youth build appropriate work skills and connections for increased success in school and in life.

- Model appropriate communication skills and good work ethic
- Engage youth in work readiness activities

- Commitment is varied and depends on volunteers schedule, preferences, and interests

Location Sites:
We offer students internship experiences at a variety of agencies and non-profits, including, but not limited to: Schoolhouse Supplies, Friends of Trees, Oregon Food Bank, Portland Parks and Recreation, SCRAP, ReBuilding Center, and Voodoo Doughnuts. Volunteers may be asked to help our youth at any of these locations, all within the Portland area. Every attempt will be made to match volunteers with their first choice of sites.
Internships are often on the weekends, so Saturday availability really helps! Qualifications: Qualifications:
- 21+ years old
- Must pass criminal background check
- Must pass agency driving background check
- Willingness to be a consistent, caring adult role model to underserved youth
- Truly enjoy working with youth
- Ability to transport self to internship site, if necessary
- Willingness to drive students in Impact NWs 15-passenger vans, if necessary Address: OR Minimum age: 21
