Special Olympics Florida -Volusia County is seeking volunteers to help plan and organize Special Olympics Florida events locally, serve on the Management Team and serve as Volunteer Coaches.


Volunteers are needed to join the management team to help plan Special Olympics Florida Events in Volusia County. Management Team positions include:

Fundraising Coordinator: Responsible for developing and implementing plan for County’s major fundraisers. Recruits fundraising committee members and oversees aspects of planning for fund development. Works with the County Director to develop fundraising budget

Marketing Coordinator: Responsible for maintaining communications with various audiences (coaches, volunteers, general public etc.) to increase awaresness of Special Olympics Florida. Maintain county's social media platform.

Young Athletes Coordinator: To ensure year-round quality training opportunities exist in Volusia County for young children ages 2-7 with Intellectual disabilities and their peers. Is a point of contact with all necessary resources need to start and implement program; works closely with Statewide Coordinator; responsible for Little Elite Pilot program roll out to Elementary Schools.

Grant Writer: Identify grant opportunities and utilize SOFL resources to respond on behalf. Experience required.

Special Olympics Florida -Volusia County also has opportunities for coaches and assistant coaches for the following sports

Coaches are the key to a successful sports experience for the Special Olympics athlete. As a coach, you teach sports skills and model good sportsmanship and character. You give Special Olympics athletes the most immediate awareness of their self-worth, ability, courage, and capacity to grow and improve both on the playing field and off. Coaches will be provided training and sports seasons run for 2-3 months.
