Special Olympics Florida is hosting the Region 2 Fall Classic Competition on Saturday, September 30th from 8:00am - 3:00pm at Jonesville Park, NW 143rd St & NW 32nd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32606. Athletes from across the region will be competing in Flag Football, Softball, and Pickleball. Join us for a full and exciting day of sport! Volunteers are needed to assist with awards, general assistance, sideline referees, score keeping and reporting, lunch and water distribution, set up/break down. We rely on more than 38,000 volunteers each year, who serve as coaches, help with events, assist on committees, and so much more. Help athletes achieve their dreams, volunteer today! Special Olympics Florida is excited to be hosting the State Fall Classic on November 10th & 11th at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex! Volunteers can register for the below opportunities: Sports Volunteers - Cornhole, Flag Football, Gymnastics, Pickleball, Powerlifting, Softball & Softball Skills: Help with multiple aspects of competition including checking in athletes, escorting them to/from the fields of play, scorekeeping, managing equipment, etc. Some volunteers in this role will also assist with preparing and presenting awards to athletes. Lunch Assistant: Assist with distributing lunch to athletes and volunteers. Registration Assistant: Assist with checking in and organizing volunteers prior to competition. Healthy Athletes: Check-in Athletes, play games and distribute prizes as athlete's complete their multiple health screenings at Healthy Athletes. Contact us at Volunteer@SOFL.org to register for the following opportunities: Powerlifting Spotters & Loaders: Assist with lifting weights on and off of the bars for athletes during competition and warm-up. Serve as safety spotters for athletes when lifting. *Must have the ability to repeatedly lift at least 25lbs.* Softball Scorekeepers: Using a traditional written scorebook, assist with keeping score of each softball game. *Prior knowledge of how to accurately complete a softball/baseball scorebook is required* All volunteers will receive a volunteer T-shirt as well as lunch during their shift. Special Olympics Florida is excited be hosting the State Swimming Championships in Sebastian, Florida on October 7th & 8th! Hundreds of athletes from across the state will be competing and we need your help to make it a success! Special Olympics Florida replies almost exclusively on volunteers and cannot do what we do without you. Volunteers will assist with the following tasks: Check in athletes for competition and escort them to their lane assignments. Serve as timers for competition. Distribute results between the pool, competition HQ and awards locations. Assist with distributing lunch to volunteers and participants Assist with preparing and presenting awards. No knowledge of the sport is required and all training will be provided on-site. Volunteers will receive a volunteer T-shirt as well as lunch during their shift. Taking place at the beautiful Disney Contemporary Resort, the Invitational brings together Disney cast members and corporate citizens to make a meaningful impact, while promoting networking and camaraderie amongst colleagues. Volunteer Roles: Volunteer will assist in a number of different way throughout the event including with event preparation (packaging corporate gifts), at check-in, various receptions and at Topgolf Orlando. Shifts also include assisting with athletes and sponsors and with corporate gift distribution. Volunteers who don't mind doing some heavy lifting are also needed to assist with event breakdown. Volunteers Receive: Volunteer T-shirt or polo shirt (depending on shift selected) Letter certifying community service hours (upon request)
