Volunteering with San Francisco students is extremely rewarding. It makes you feel like you are accomplishing something, that you are giving back to your community, and that you are helping young people accomplish their dreams. By volunteering with the San Francisco Education Fund just one hour a week you will help middle schoolers have the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Volunteers like you work specifically with 6th and 7th graders in San Francisco public schools to set them up for success in 8th grade and beyond. This opportunity allows you to work directly with students, sharing your joy of math.
We know that volunteers have busy schedules, whether they are working, raising families, or retired. We’ll work with your schedule to find time that works for you. No previous experience is required, only a desire to help students reach their full potential.

The San Francisco Education Fund's programming focuses on one goal: improving student success in San Francisco public schools. Because no single effort can yield the results we seek, the Education Fund utilizes a multi-faceted approach focused on teachers, volunteers, students, and strategic partnerships. The Education Fund's ongoing research, policy and public engagement work spans all of our program areas.
Description
The San Francisco Education Fund believes that strong
public schools are critical to San Francisco's viability and that the community must take action to ensure their success. By acting as a bridge between the community and the classroom, the Education Fund increases the availability and impact of resources for students and teachers throughout San Francisco public schools.
Our integrated approach:
- supports teachers with training and resources to enhance their classroom practice;
- matches volunteer skills with teacher requests;
- engages students to create positive changes in their schools;
- unites families, service providers, businesses and others to build stronger school communities; and
- informs district policy through community input and strategic partnerships.
