San Francisco public schools are home to a stark achievement gap, with Latino and African American students falling behind their peers in standardized tests and experiencing higher dropout rates. Literacy is an essential piece of reaching the goals to close these gaps. You can make a difference by helping a San Francisco student gain confidence and competency with reading.
We are the San Francisco Education Fund, the nonprofit in charge of training and placing volunteers in San Francisco public schools. Each year, we receive dozens of requests from teachers asking for help for their students. Volunteers like you are difference-makers for school children at the K-3 level who need one-on-one assistance.
No matter who you are or where you come from, you have something to share with San Francisco students. We will work with your schedule to find the right volunteer opportunity for you.
