Want to make a difference by helping students get their GEDs and achieve their goals for a brighter future? Volunteer as a tutor and a mentor at the See Forever Foundation’s Maya Angelou Young Adult Learning Center (YALC)! At the YALC we provide academic and workforce development to inner city young adults (ages 17-24) who have not been successful in a traditional high school environment, or, because of life circumstances, have not been able to receive their high school diploma. We are looking for volunteers for our upcoming school year beginning August 29th to provide math, science, and reading/language arts support on a regular basis. Classes will likely be between 8:30 and 3:30 pm, and volunteers would ideally be able to come for at least an hour a week. However, there may be additional opportunities for volunteers to participate in occasional after school and weekend group tutoring sessions. We are located at 5600 East Capitol Street NE and are metro accessible via the Capitol Heights Metro Station. If you’d like to experience this rewarding volunteer opportunity, or would like to learn more, contact Fiona Rodgerson at frodgerson@seeforever.org or call 202-289-8898 extension 1703

See Forever teens take part in our activities year round, for up to 10.5 hours per day during the traditional school year, and for 6 to 8 hours per day during the summer. They attend classes, work part-time through our internship program, and participate in activities ranging from internships to summer programs to team-building exercises.
