Virtual Memory Care Companion Volunteer

Save to Favorites

Normandale Center for Healing & Wholeness

This is a virtual opportunity.

The Memory Care Companion would provide "virtual respite" for the caregiver, while the caregiver is present in the home.

Volunteers spend time with individuals who have mild to moderate memory loss while their caregivers take a break. The caregiver will still be in the home, however the volunteer would engage virtually with the volunteer, reading to them, doing an activity, perhaps you know how to play an instrument? or have another skill that you would be able to show the senior you are matched with?

Time commitment is flexible.

Volunteers provide socialization, meaningful activities and friendly visiting. Visits would be virtual via zoom.

The purpose and role of this position is to provide safe and nurturing support for the person with memory loss while giving their Caregiver (typically a spouse or family member) an opportunity to take a break from his/her care giving responsibilities. Provide visiting and activities that are meaningful and appropriate to the stage of memory loss. Memory Companion training session includes volunteer orientation and ongoing connection with Center Staff.
