ONCE A MONTH - 2nd Saturday Group Respite Volunteer 1-3 hours

Weekend opportunity to provide respite for care givers of seniors who are experiencing memory loss. Group respite is available to care receivers while their care giver attends education and support groups. Respite activities and leadership are provided by the Normandale Center for Healing and Wholeness. The Center provides 1:1 volunteer partnerships for respite reservations. We engage in fun activities such as bingo, art activities, word finds, playing card games, music and more! It would be between 9:00am-10:30am and 10:30am-12pm. Either shifts can be selected or you can stay for both. ALL VOLUNTEERS BE VACCINATED AND SHOW VACCINATION CARD

Music Volunteer for 2nd Saturday Respite

The Center for Healing and Wholeness is looking for volunteers who have a musical ability and can come and play a musical instrument or sing to our seniors who come to respite on the 2nd Saturday of each month. We meet from 9:00am-12:00pm so volunteers can come and play for 30 minutes to an hour during that time.

1:1 Memory Care Companion - Respite Volunteer

This is an opportunity to provide respite and engagement as an in home memory care companion, to a senior with memory loss. Volunteers will be trained and matched with a person with milk and moderate memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer's disease to provide socialization, meaningful activities and friendly visiting. Visits will take place3 in the client's home. The purpose and role of this position is to provide safe and nurturing support for the person with memory loss - while giving their caregiver (typically a spouse or a family member) an opportunity to take a break from his/her caregiving responsibilities. Provide visiting and activities that are meaningful and appropriate to the stage of memory loss (ex, listening to music, doing art projects, looking through pictures or playing games). The Engagement Coordinator will attend the first scheduled volunteer visit to ensure the volunteer, client and caregiver are comfortable with the process. The caregiver will remain present the first visit. ALL VOLUNTEERS MUST BE ABLE TO SHOW VACCINATION CARD TO VOLUNTEER
