The Citizen Planning Committee (CPC) for the Whilamut Natural Area of Alton Baker Park has a number of openings. The committee is a group of 15 volunteers from Eugene and Springfield. Eugene members are appointed by the Eugene City Council. Springfield members are appointed by the Willamalane Board of Directors. Terms run for three consecutive years.

This a great opportunity to serve on a committee working with Eugene Parks and Open Space and the Willamalane Park and Recreation District to implement the East Alton Baker Park Plan, a citizen-generated document for managing and enhancing the 237 acres of open-space parkland shared by Eugene and Springfield.

Description

Willamalane Park and Recreation District maintains and operates seven recreation facilities and 44 parks and natural areas that make up more than 1,500 acres. Highlights include Splash! at Lively Park, Camp Putt Adventure Golf Park, Wildish Community Theater, 13 waterfront areas, 21 miles of hiking and biking trails, 15 sports fields and 24 playgrounds. Willamalane offers hundreds of recreation programs to more than 60,000 patrons. Created by voters in 1944, Willamalane is a special tax district, separate from the city of Springfield, with its own boundaries. It is governed by a five-member, elected board of directors and managed by a district superintendent. Online information is available at willamalane.org
