Kaiser Permanente Redwood City has openings for volunteers in its Hospice program serving patients who are receiving end-of-life care. Volunteers are part of a team providing comfort and compassionate care to patients, their caregivers and families. Volunteers provide companionship, conversation, hold a hand, listen, sit quietly or share life stories and reminisce. They support caregivers by allowing them to take a rest or run an errand. Volunteers work directly with the doctors, nurses, home care aides, and chaplains on our team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with seniors and their families.
Kaiser Hospice volunteers visit patients in their homes, and also in skilled nursing facilities. We will assign volunteers to a patient conveniently located near their home, in the areas around Redwood City. Currently due to the pandemic, volunteers are required/trained to undertake a covid screening prior to visits, and utilize Kaiser-provided N95 masks. Volunteers will never be assigned to patients who have been exposed to covid.
Volunteers are asked to commit to ONE YEAR, and are asked to volunteer 4-6 hours PER MONTH.
Kaiser Hospice requires applicants to complete a 10-hour online video training, attend a volunteer orientation, and authorize a background check / health screening (no cost).
Come join a team that truly makes a difference! We LOVE our volunteers!
