ORGANIZATION: THE MCCUNE ART AND BOOKS COLLECTION

  • 16 people are interested

A volunteer in this position will help the McCune Collection with keeping its contact database current. The McCune Collection currently uses an Excel spreadsheet to store supporter and donor contact information as well as e-mail information. The spreadsheet needs to be update routinely (perhaps once a month or more) by adding information about new contacts, and removing out-dated information. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows is highly preferred. Familiarity with Microsft Excel is helpful but not essential - on site training in Excel will be provided. An adept candidate may also have a role in helping the McCune Collection to improve its e-mail distribution procedures. The time constraints associated with this position are very flexible.

About THE MCCUNE ART AND BOOKS COLLECTION

Location:

505 Santa Clara St, Lower-level of the JFK Building, VALLEJO, CA 94590, US

Mission Statement

The McCune Collection provides public service in the Arts of the Book. We seek to actively involve a diverse public in all our programs; present programs and exhibits of high quality to our audiences; provide innovative educational programming; advance the Collection with relevant acquisitions; and enrich the culture of our community.

Description

The McCune Collection in the JFK Library building houses a superb assortment of rare and unique books, printing equipment, and binding tools left as a bequest to the City of Vallejo by longtime resident and renown physician, Dr. Donovan J. McCune. The particular strengths of this Collection are in: fine printing and binding, Californiana, and Latin & Greek texts, including several incunabula items. We also have a fine collection of superb prints and photographs.

The McCune Room is OPEN to the public on the FIRST & THIRD Tuesday of each month, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The public may also visit during Vallejo's monthly 2nd Friday Artwalk from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Tours may be arranged by appointment. To do so, please contact us by phone at (707) 674-4082 or by e-mail at mccunecollection@mail.com - our volunteer docents are better able to accommodate tour requests which are received several days in advance.
