Baton Rouge General's Arts in Medicine program brings creative activities to patients and family members through mediums such as painting, drawing, arts and crafts, music and more. Patients benefit from the therapeutic properties of creating and enjoying instruction from local artists-in-residence.

Through one-on-one sessions, and collaborative projects, the program facilitates bringing the arts to our patients. Patients are offered the opportunity to explore their own creativity while meeting the challenges of diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.

Opportunities include:
  • Painting
  • Mobile making
  • Crafts
  • Music therapy
  • Drawing
  • Mixed media
  • Oral history
  • Other fine arts
Patients can also request a bedside visit from the visual artist-in-residence or from the musicians or music therapist.

If you are interested in participating in a project or would like to donate your time and talents to our patients, please call (225) 387-7040; You will need to meet with Kim Henderson prior to volunteering in the AIM program.
