ORGANIZATION: National MS Society Mid America

Job Summary: This internship opportunity is available every semester (fall, spring and summer). It will include working on behalf of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Mid America Chapter under supervision of the Corporate Development Manager. This position requires 10-15 hours of work per week.

Responsibilities: Planning, coordination and implementation of the special events assigned by the Corporate Development Manager.

Internship Projects:
Assisting with the Mid America Chapter Dinner of Champion fundraising event which includes:

* Assist with planning and event logistics

* Assist with leadership committee tasks

  • Serve as the point person for the Silent Auction

- Manage all tasks as they pertain to the SA Committee

* Clerical projects including mailings, database maintenance, phone calling, etc.

Qualifications:

* Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office

-Strong excel skills

* Strong writing and interpersonal skills

* Must be able to process confidential information

Description

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society funds more MS research, offers more services to people with MS, provides more professional education programs and advances more MS advocacy efforts than any other MS organization in the world. Through its home office and fifty-state network of chapters, the National MS Society provides assistance to over a million people annually in its continuing mission to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis. The Mid America Chapter serves 159 counties in Kansas and Missouri.

Seeking out and engaging volunteers to the MS cause is at the very core of our business. Each year the Society organizes a series of community events that provide many opportunities for the enthusiastic volunteer. The Society offers two key fundraising activities: Bike MS, and Walk MS Walk. The Society also engages volunteers to help influence law-makers at the federal, state and municipal levels toward legislation important to people with MS. The Society is looking for passionate volunteers with expertise in areas such as: marketing communications, public relations, corporate and donor development, medical, legal, administrative and organizational expertise.
