Anoka County Brotherhood Council Food Shelf
About the Organization:
Anoka County Brotherhood Council (ACBC) Food Shelf Volunteers have been providing emergency food and clothing to area residents of Anoka County for over forty years. ACBC is a local nonprofit; non-government agency that serves about 900 families per month, 10,500 families per year.
Retail Food Rescue: Is integral to ACBC being able to serve the variety and amount of fresh produce, dairy and meat to families in need. The position involves driving to various stores in the ACBC area, picking up donated food and lifting it into the ACBC van, then driving it back to the food shelf and helping unload it. Current shifts available are Wednesday mornings from 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM or Thursday mornings from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
Food Distribution at ACBC:Directly impact individuals and assist people in choosing their own food during the following available shifts on Tuesday afternoons from 1:00-4:00 PM or Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:30 PM.
Anoka CAN Deliver: Join the Anoka CAN Delivery Team who bring food shelf orders and social connection to home-bound seniors. Deliveries can be done by one person, by a couple or even with young children tagging along. It can be done in the morning or on a lunch break. We are looking for people to deliver in the cities of Anoka and Coon Rapids, once a month for about 1 hour a day. Volunteers are more than welcome to take on multiple deliveries on multiple days. Currently there are clients on the waitlist until more volunteer drivers are found to help meet the need!
