BirchBark Foundation is the first of its kind in Central Coast region. While there are many wonderful animal aid groups in both Monterey and Santa Cruz, there are no other organizations that are singularly dedicated to saving the lives of pets that are already in loving homes, but whose families cannot pay for all or part of the care they need to survive. Our goal is to keep pets with their families-it’s the least we can do for the unconditional love and companionship they give so freely.

We need volunteers to help us spread the word about BirchBark Foundation throughout the communities we serve. Tabling in a variety of locations affords us the opportunity to connect with people, who otherwise wouldn't know about our work. This volunteer opportunity allows you to educate families about the resources available to them, if their beloved pet has a life threatening issue (that has a good prognosis). It also provides a way to grow the donor base that supports our financial aid grants. The stronger that base of support, the better able we are to ensure funds are available to those who need it most. Keeping the public informed about our work and connecting BirchBark staff with potential donors are crucial to our success.

Your work as an Ambassador helps to ensure our ability to continue to save pets' lives and keep families together. Please join us in our efforts! Surf City Coffee Co. in Aptos is a generous supporter of BirchBark Foundation. Every 3rd Saturday of the month, they allow us to setup on their patio at 8:45 am and we start breaking down at 12:00pm.

We are looking for animal lovers, who also love talking to people. Outgoing and interested in pet health education is a plus! Well-behaved dogs are more than welcome to join us, too.
