Southwest Vermont MRC (Medical Reserve Corps) is looking for a volunteer coordinator to help schedule volunteer activities, complete minor administrative duties, message volunteers, and be involved with the recuirtment of volunteers.
Skills/Traits: basic computer skills, comfortable addressing small groups of people, leadership, love of volunteering, outgoing personality, and calmness in emergencies.
Time Commitment varies 3 to 12 hours a week. Includes 1-2 weeknights a month, plus 1-2 weekend days a month for the volunteer activities. Then email corresponding with volunteers and the Bennington District Health Office on your own time.
Bennington District Health Office will support and guide you in coordinating MRC. Small stipend is available to you each month for your time, plus reimbursement for expenses, but this is mostly a volunteer position.

Vermont Medical Reserve Corps Units a group of volunteers that assists the health department, hospitals, and emergency response agencies in times of need, as well as support local communities with health initiatives and disease prevention activities. They consist of both Medical and Non-Medical Volunteers who donate their time and expertise in order to ensure a safe and healthier Vermont.
MRC Volunteers can in engage in the following activities...
- Medical Surge supporting hospitals when their a large influx of patients do to a disaster.
- Points of Distribution (PODs) for handing out medication and supplies in an outbreak.
- Medical Aid Shelters during public large events
- Portable Hospital Setup and Staffing
- Sheltering Operations
- Community Preparedness Outreach
- Health Initiatives

There are 8 different MRC Units across Vermont. Central VT MRC, Chittenden County MRC, Northeast Kingdom, Northwest VT MRC, Rutland /Addison County MRC, Southeastern VT MRC, Southwestern VT MRC, and Upper Vally MRC.
