DESCRIPTION:
- The Shelter Assistant provides assistance in the general operation of Cherokee Family Violence Center’s emergency shelter facility (safe house) and provides support to its residents. Our shelter is staffed 24 hours a day, so there are a variety of shifts available for this position. Two days of in-person training, and a minimum of ten additional hours of shadowing staff members are required for this role. The location of our shelter is not disclosed to the public for safety reasons, but all service opportunities and training will take place in Cherokee County, Georgia.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Admissions including: completion of forms, room assignments, introductions, providing supplies, and shelter orientation
- Assist with crisis calls
- Assist families during the shift with their needs and document relevant information in the log book
- Assist in updating/copying the resource and or shelter manual
- Ensure room cleanliness, safety and security compliance
