Two opportunities are available for this location!

10-10:30 AM, every Wednesday & Sunday morning:

We deliver food that would otherwise have been thrown away to homeless shelters to feed the homeless and food insecure in NYC. You can help: pick up the leftover food from a popular LES restaurant and deliver it on-foot to the nearby Bowery Mission! Volunteer for just 30 minutes per week and make a huge impact!

10:40-11:10 PM, every Sunday-Wednesday night:

The food you pay so much for is perishable. But that does not mean it has be thrown out at the end of the day when it is unsold. Help us take this food that we would pay for to the hungry people who need it at The Bowery Mission, located at 227 Bowery.

Heavyweight: the average amount of food is 50-80 lbs.

The mission of RLC is to redistribute excess food to feed people experiencing food insecurity.

Description

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a nonprofit organization committed to fighting food insecurity and preventing wasted food. We have cultivated a network of dedicated food rescuers who bring food directly from our food donors to nonprofit recipients, letting neighbors help neighbors while reaping the environmental and economic benefits of reducing wasted food. Founded in 2013, our simple, but elegant model has saved over 8 million pounds of food since our inception.
