About

Did you know that 50% of people living in long term care facilities have no family and 60% have no visitors? The vision of Long Term Care Ombudsman (LTCO) is to be the voice for individuals needing and utilizing long term care services. We are resident focused and advocate for the rights of individuals receiving long-term care services by resolving complaints, helping with selection assistance and explaining rights and benefits.

Advocate for residents' rights and quality care in nursing homes. Empower residents and their families to exercise their rights. Gather information on conditions and daily life at the facility. Present person-centered care options for residents to encourage them to maintain the activities and patterns of their home life as they transition to living in a nursing home.

Volunteers receive 12 hours of classroom training, provider orientation and complaint handling and are then certified by the State of Ohio.

Gain skills in problem solving, negotiation and mediation, along with making a difference in the lives of residents of all ages.
